We have a new, beautiful full colour book that takes us into the history of our church and the details of the building and its contents.
You'll find out about, for instance, our weeping chancel. The part of the church that includes the choir stalls and altar is at a slight angle to the rest of the building. This was often done in Victorian gothic revival churches because it was thought at the time that medieval builders intentionally angled the chancel to the right to reprent Jesus' head in the cross. It's now thought more likely that the medieval angles were accidental (and weren't consistent in their direction) - but certainly was intentional in the Victorian rebuilding of the church.
