The green churchyard

If you visited St Andrew's churchyard in the last few weeks you may have spotted that the grass had not been mown for a little while. This was to give insect life a chance to make use of flowering plants and grasses - essential for survival of these useful pollinators.

I hope you will still enjoy our more than usually vibrant green oasis - and the churchyard is still there as a special place for everyone in the parish, giving us all a chance to slow down from the busy world, think and perhaps offer up a prayer.

I know it's not for everyone, but I think it's good for churchyards that look like this part of the year, not mowed to a pristine finish - the wildflowers and flowering grasses below are beautiful, a sign of life and God's generosity - and essential for those insects to thrive.
