Swindon Day 2026

Celebrating Swindon on 22nd January

On 22 January 1900 the Charter of Incorporation and Scheme for the Borough of Swindon, signed by Queen Victoria, was introduced.  This charter, petitioned to the Queen by Swindonians, saw the creation of the Borough of Swindon and merged the new town and Old Town together.  It’s like Swindon’s birthday!

As part of the celebrations this year, St Andrew’s Church was open from 3-4.30pm on Thursday 22nd January for tea and cake, chat and opportunities to pray for and celebrate Swindon as it is 126 years later.

Thank you to all those who helped arrange the day, provided cake and thought about and prayed for Swindon.
