REGULAR WORSHIP SERVICES

We offer a range of services over a month, all of which are fully inclusive.

The morning and evening services are always at St Andrew's Church. The afternoon service is at St Francis School, Taw Hill.

First Sunday of the Month:

10am Children's Service

This 30 minute service includes a Bible reading from a Children’s Bible, an activity for children around the theme of the day, some thought provoking questions for the adults, plus an action song and some simple prayers.  We have anything up to 40 children under 10 at this service, so it is lively, buzzy, active and full of young families! The service is designed to immerse children in the worship life of the church.

Nicola Wheeler writes about this service:  "We first came to St Andrew's Church when my Son wa sjust 4 months old.  I distinctly remember the warm welcome we received, walking in for the first time.  I think I spent most of the service breast feeding; it was totally accepted.  We have continued coming to St Andrew's for the last 3 years, regularly to the Children's Service.  Toby hears 'Church music' on the radio and smiles at his enjoyment of the services.  The format of the service is ideal.  45 minutes with activities at the back from the moment you arrive in church until you leave.  During the service there is an action song and craft activity, which parents can join in as necessary.  There's a toilet outside and you can leave the service as necessary.  It's such a relaxed, friendly place, Toby gets really excited when I tell him we are going."

6:30pm Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer)

This service uses the traditional language of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) and is quiet and reflective with hymns and a short sermon, and it lasts about 40 minutes.

Second Sunday of the Month:

10am Morning Worship with Uniformed Organisations

This 40 minute service is based on Common Worship Morning Prayer and we are regularly supported by our local Brownie pack and other members of uniformed organizations. The older children are engaged in the sermon and help read the lesson.  There are also activities for younger children led by some of our children’s leaders, but this is a thought provoking service for adults as well.  The service is followed by home made cake and refreshments.

Third Sunday of the Month:

10am Holy Communion

This Holy Communion service from the Church of England's Common Worship book and uses modern language, with hymns and a sermon.  There is teaching for older and younger children. The service lasts about 1 hour.

6:30pm Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer

THe traditional service of Evensong, parts of which have been used for over 1500 years.  There are hymns and a short reflection, the service lasts about 35 minutes.

Fourth and Fifth Sundays of the Month:

10am Holy Communion

This Holy Communion service from the Church of England's Common Worship book and uses modern language, with hymns and a sermon.  There is teaching for older and younger children. The service lasts about 1 hour.

Last Sunday of the Month (not August or December)

4pm All Age Service at St Francis School

This 40 minute service takes place in the Hall at St Francis School and there are age related teaching groups for Under 3s, 3-5s, 5-8s, 8+ and adults.  It is a real all age set up, there is something for everyone and there are refreshments after the service!

Of this service, Nicola writes:  "We've again been attending the St Francis Children's Service for the past 3 years.  It's a similar format to the St Andrew's Children's Service, with a little more space.  You can walk around with children in the school hall if necesary, and the activities are divided into age groups, so you are hearing from the Bible and doing the craft to the right level for your child.  Toby loves this service so much, he chooses to come back from other activities to attend.  There's often tea and cake at the end of the service too.  The essence of St Andrew's is so family friendly and we have made some lovely friends through Church who we socialise with outside of the services."

Services at Orchid Care Home, Guernsey Way, North Swindon

We have a weekly service of hymns, prayers and a Bible reading every Monday at 3pm at the Care Home.    On the first Wednesday of the month and at major Festivals (Christmas and Easter), we conduct a simple Communion service.  All residents and members of their families, and the staff are welcome to attend these services.
