August - Thought For The Month
As you prepare to head off in the wind and the rain, the floods and the tempest, for your 'summer' holidays here's a thought, the basis for much of what we'll be looking at in church through August.
GUIDELINES FOR LIFE
We’ve got used to the 10 Commandments as being rules to stop us doing things, to restrict our actions and activities – all about no, no, no…
However, think again. Perhaps what they are really telling us, as Jesus says in his summary of the commandments [Matthew 22.34-40] is that we should worship God and care for each other and for ourselves. The commandments call us to protect and care for people who are vulnerable, to respect each other’s lives and property, to love our families and to be honest. They are guidelines, and excellent ones, for our lives as we follow God. Leave aside all of the negatives and start walking the road that the commandments give us.
