Introduction to Christianity
CREATING COMMUNITIES OF WHOLENESS WITH CHRIST AT THE CENTRE
Behind all the information on this website are faces, the faces of actual human beings who make up the Church of England in North Swindon. But there is something about those people that we need to add, even though it is obvious: that is, we are people excited by our Christian faith and committed to living and sharing it.
So if we are going to introduce you to the church in North Swindon we need to introduce you to that part of ourselves which we might easily assume and not mention: we need to introduce you to our Christian faith. We need to say something about the face behind our faces, and that is the face of Jesus Christ.
He is God's face, turned towards the world. Those who saw him in the flesh saw love in that face, love they could access even when - perhaps especially when - their life left them feeling unwanted and unloved. Those of us who use the name 'Christian' about ourselves do so because we have come to know that face and its importance for our lives. We know that face of love in our worship, in the pages of the Bible, in our receiving of Holy Communion, and in each other. We know God's face of love turned towards the world through our life in the Church, through our fellow-believers, and through all that we do together to honour God and learn God's way of love.
There's much, much more to say about that, of course. And if that's something you want to explore, or have been putting off exploring for a while and know you need to, it would be worth contacting us. Or you can try exploring www.rejesus.co.uk. There's also some more about Jesus on the Baptism Page [scroll down and find it].
You will find us willing to share our experience of God's love in our lives and glad to welcome you. We won’t impose or dictate anything, but we will listen and share and pray that you too can access what we call 'gospel', the Good News that God's face of love is still turned towards you, and always will be.
